2018 Conference Week Events


Ahead of LUCVS's "Hideous Progeny: The Gothic in the Nineteenth Century" conference, we have several relevant events in the Rogers Park area for conference attendees and interested persons. Undergraduate and graduate students, faculty, independent scholars, and readers of the Gothic are all welcome to attend. Email LUCVS for more info - we hope to shiver with you there!

Thursday, 25 October:

5:00pm: A Chicago-area university social at the aptly-named Rogers Park Social. Address: 6920 N Glenwood Ave, Chicago, IL 60626.

7:30pm: Frankenstein at Lifeline Theatre (a few doors up from RPS).

Address: 6912 N Glenwood Ave.

Ticket Prices: $20 for students, $20 rush tickets for non-students 30 mins before curtain rises.

Friday, 26 October:

12:45pm. Dr. Alison Booth will be giving an informal talk during a LUC Center for Textual Studies and Digital Humanities (CTSDH) lunch session at 12:45pm, entitled "Feminist Digital Humanities in Practice: Intersectional Typologies and Mid-Range Reading." This event will likely last until 1:30pm or so.

6:30pm-8 pm. LUCVS members, Dr. Booth, Dr. Anger, and LUC faculty will go to Rogers Park's famous Heartland Cafe (7000 N. Glenwood Ave) for an early dinner and conversation.

Saturday, 27 October:

8:00am. The LUCVS conference "Hideous Progeny: The Gothic in the Nineteenth Century" will begin with a 30 min. check-in and breakfast period on the 4th floor of the Klarcheck Information Commons at LUC's Lake Shore Campus (big glass building).

6:00pm-8pm. Following the conference and keynotes, LUCVS members, Dr. Booth and Dr. Anger, and LUC faculty will go to Uncommon Ground for dinner and conversation. Address: 1401 W Devon Ave.
