AMENITIES FOR CONFERENCE ATTENDEES

Loyola University Chicago LSC Address:

1032 W Sheridan Rd, Chicago, IL 60660.

Transit Information:

We have an excellent and fairly cheap parking deck here at Loyola University Chicago and there is another about 3/4 of a mile down the road off the Granville Red Line stop. There is usually parking along the streets as well. The Loyola Red Line stop is directly across the street from the university if you take the public transport route. Those taking a Megabus or Amtrak train will walk from Chicago Union Station across the river to the Jackson Red Line stop on State St. From that station you would take the Red Line to Howard and get off at Loyola, three stops before Howard.

Local Accommodations:
Links to hotel websites here - check out the discount codes as they may be useful when paying for your reservations. If you would like to "go-halves" with another attendee on a double room, email lucvictoriansociety@gmail.com with your detailed request and we'll inform you if someone else does the same.

Printing:
In case of printing emergencies, printers are available in the Klarchek Information Commons on the first floor (our conference will be in the same building) and copies can be made at a low cost on a visitor's print card.

Dinner Restaurants:

Breakfast, lunch, and coffee will be provided at the LUCVS day conference.

We will make optional reservations at Rogers Park restaurants Bar 63 and Uncommon Ground for attendees following the day conference. Sign-up sheets will be available for these dinner venues at the conference.

Local Attractions:

  • Located a few feet from Lake Michigan, Loyola University's LSC campus boasts incredible waterside views and beautiful architecture. Several beaches are nearby, including Rogers Beach Park and Loyola Beach.

  • The Armadillo's Pillow is a used book store favored by Loyola students and professors for its high quality and books, cheap prices.

  • Award-winning coffee house Metropolis with its strong coffee and pies from Evanston favorite Hoosier Mama is a short walk up N. Sheridan Rd.

  • Since 1912, indie New 400 Cinema offers four current movies in an old-timey Chicago building with all the popcorn you'd expect and none of the high ticket prices.
